Michael K Mansfield
President & Owner

Michael Mansfield has been in the telecommunications field since 1989. Transitioning from a 9-year career in the offshore oil drilling industry into telecom he started as a laborer on a large PBX project at Texas Instruments in the Dallas, Texas area. He became interested in fiber optics on that project and attended a fiber optic splicing school at Texas A&M in April of 1990. After working in the fiber optic splicing field for 2 1/2 years, he established Fiber-Tel Contractors, Inc. in Dec of 1992 as a full-service fiber optic splicing and testing company. Michael started Fiber-Tel with one employee, himself, as the only splicing technician, also working providing cabling services on an AT&T contract in 1993 and 1994 performing data cabling in Wal-Mart stores nationwide to fill in between fiber splicing jobs. After training splicing techs and hiring, he expanded to over 25 splicing techs by 2000 and was working on projects nationwide. In 2000 he diversified to offer underground fiber cable placement (cable jetting), FTTH and FTTP cutover services in 2004, data cabling (Premise Wiring), and in 2020 he added an aerial cable placement division. These 3 divisions are our primary niches today!

Splicing Manager, Russ McNulty, oversees the company's fiber optic cable splicing operations and monitors quality control. A native Arkansan, Russ joined the Fiber-Tel team in October 1993. With decades of fiber cable splicing experience since joining Fiber-Tel Contractors, Russ has the knowledge and expertise to ensure our customer's jobs are completed to Fiber-Tel's exacting standards.

Eric Kessler

Aerial Placement Manager

Eric Kessler is our Aerial Construction Manager. Eric brings over 24 years of aerial copper and fiber construction experience to our company. Eric joined our team early 2025. 

Steve Judd
Cable Placement Manager

Steve Judd is the Underground Fiber Placement Manager for Fiber-Tel Contractors, Inc. Originally from Oklahoma; Steve joined the Fiber-Tel team in March 2004. Steve's duties include securing fiber placement jobs and managing fiber placement crews. Prior to joining Fiber-Tel, Steve worked coast to coast for pipeline and fiber optic contractors. Steve's many years of experience in the fiber optic construction industry is an asset to Fiber-Tel and our crews.
